Heneral Luna: G na G kay Aguinaldo

Today, I'd watched Heneral Luna since I was really curious before because of what my classmates and friends were saying. Aside from that I'd read a couple of good reviews about how great the film was, and to tell you the truth it was REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GREAT! Heneral Luna, is indeed a must watch film, because it's an eye opener. You would be aware of all the conspiracies during those times and you would learn something that we couldn't learn from school, since what we learn from our history subjects were very limited and I was really moved by the story, because it wasn't just about Antonio Luna. It was about the Philippines in general, its government, its people and its history.

Like long ago we believed that Emilio Aguinaldo was behind our freedom and he had fought for it so hard, but in reality he was just taking credit for it from the real heroes, like Gilderoy Lockhart (from Harry Potter). If I was Aguinaldo I would be ashamed and probably my conscience was already eating me, because I had done something only a beast would do. First he ordered a group of men to execute the Bonifacio Brothers and then he also murdered Antonio Luna.

Indeed, it wasn't him who actually killed those people, but he was actually the one behind it. Although he said that he had nothing to do with the murders of Bonifacio and Luna, but he was a big, fat, liar, so we should not consider him as our hero, either our First President. Aguinaldo was a backstabber and a coward. Remember when he went to Hong Kong to hide? how about the time when he sell the Philippines to those colonist? Aguinaldo always run and hide, because he's a chicken, unlike General Antonio Luna.

Luna was a genius which the film had actually proven when it comes to battle. Besides he knew what he's really fighting for. Luna isn't fighting for power or for any position in the government, he was fighting for this country and for those people he loves.

It was just a shame that he was killed and butchered like a pig by his fellow Filipino who actually fought along with him to give this country the liberty we have now. If only he wasn't murdered probably during that war, the victory was probably ours and the freedom we were yearning was probably on our grasp, but Aguinaldo had listened to those devils who were envious of Luna. Also if Mabini had opposed and tried to reasoned out, perhaps Luna would have  succeeded in conquering the Americans, but Mabini just kept silent.

That's why I think that what was happening today in our country was a phenomenon of what happened in the past. Look at our government, there were traitors and those who only care for power. We might not be aware but there were politicians who would actually do what Aguinaldo had done to Bonifacio and Luna, because they felt threaten. Also until now, we are backstabbing and we keep on dragging others so that we would be on top. We would do anything even to lose our integrity and values, just like what Aguinaldo and his trusted members did, instead of assisting and helping each other to attain a certain goal.

 I remember what my teacher in History said that we were studying history so that we would learn from the past and so that we won't make the same mistakes that happened in our history, but it seemed that even how hard we try to study our history we won't be able to learn from it. Instead we are doing the same mistakes over and over, until it becomes a curse to this country. That's why I think that this country never progress was because of that. If only we tried to reach out with others, if only we tried to help each other, probably this county was already on its peak, and if only we are ruled by true leaders probably we had attained what we have been yearning for, but we were wrongly governed ever since.

So this film in general is something that not only students should watch, but everyone else, because you could really learn something from it, especially in choosing the right leader, since the 2016 election is also coming up. I think that this movie is in great timing since there were a lot of conspiracies and issues going on in our government. Besides our government is the reflection of what happened during Luna's time.
